The principle
Your spots do not leave your phone. This is not a setting we happened to turn on by default: it is a consequence of the architecture. The log — your trips, your catches, your photos, your places — is stored locally on the device. There is no server holding a copy, unless you explicitly turn on the Plus plan's backup.
What we do not collect
- No account, no email address, no password to use the log.
- No GPS position: the application never asks for location permission. A catch's position is read from the metadata of the photo you took on site.
- No address book, no advertising identifier, no biometric data.
- No spot data is transmitted, aggregated, sold or used for third-party purposes.
What we measure on this site
We use PostHog, hosted in the European Union, to understand which pages are viewed and which download buttons are used. The data is pseudonymised and we build no advertising profile from it.
| Data | Purpose | Retention |
|---|---|---|
| Page views, duration | Measure audience and improve the site | 12 months |
| Visit source (UTM, referrer) | Know which channel visitors arrive through | 12 months |
| Store button click | Measure the download rate per placement | 12 months |
| Pseudonymous identifier | Tell two visits apart without identifying the person | 12 months |
We do not enable session recording: no replay of your mouse movements or your
keystrokes. We honour your browser's Do Not Track header.
Redirection to the app stores
When you click a download button, the link carries a campaign identifier that lets Apple or Google tell us, in aggregate, how many installs come from this site. On Android, that identifier is passed to the application through the Play Install Referrer API; it contains no personally identifying data. On iOS, Apple reports only per-campaign totals.
Inside the application
The application measures screen usage, also through PostHog, in order to spot friction points. This measurement can be turned off at any time in Profile ▸ Privacy. No spot name, no coordinate and no photo is ever sent in those events.

Your rights
Under the GDPR you have the right of access, rectification, erasure, restriction, objection and portability. For the log, those rights are exercised directly in the application: export produces a complete file, and deleting the account erases backup data immediately.
